Pastor
Fr David Bluejacket You can reach Fr. David A native of Denver , Fr. David is the youngest son of an American Indian father of the Shawnee nation and an Irish-Catholic mother. He has two older brothers and two older sisters in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. A product of Catholic schools, he began his formation to become a priest in 1979 after graduating from high school, and he received degrees from seminaries in California (1983) and Denver (1988). He was ordained a priest on July 16, 1988 and has served in five parishes throughout the metro area. Spirit of Christ is his third pastorate. In his leisure time, Fr. David enjoys reading, being with friends (his family now lives in Oklahoma , the birthplace of his father) and collecting presidential campaign buttons. He feels incredibly blessed to be part of the Spirit of Christ Catholic community. |

Associate Pastor
Father Steven Voss You can reach the Fr. Steven Father Steven Voss was ordained on May 12, 2007 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput O.F.M. Cap. Spirit of Christ is his first priestly assignment. Born December 14, 1978 in Denver, Colorado, he is the fourth of five children and is the second son of Raymond and Mary Voss. The Voss family are founding members of St. Jude Parish in Lakewood where they still attend and where Fr. Steven had his first Mass. Fr. Steven attended Catholic schools, including Notre Dame, Sts. Peter and Paul and J.K. Mullen High School. He has a Bachelors degree form Regis University in philosophy with a minor in history, a Master’s of Divinity from St. John Vianney Theological Seminary and a Bacheloriate of Sacred Theology form the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome which he received while studying in Denver. When asked what he has loved most about his priesthood, Father said he loves the liturgy, and working with people one on one. He is overwhelmed by how warm and loving the Spirit of Christ community has been in welcoming him. When not at the Church, you can find Father Steven with family and friends, enjoying Denver history, or getting out into the outdoors. |

Deacon
Mike Howard Deacon Mike has retired from office duties, but you can leave a message for him at the Parish Office at 303-422-9173 Mike and his wife Barb are among the founding families at SOC. They too have dedicated their lives to the service of our parish. Mike and Barb have been married for 37 years and have 3 children. Mike was ordained a deacon on March 22, 1975. His entire diaconate ministry has been at SOC. Most recently Mike’s outreach is to a project called “Southern Exposure”, which is an immersion and house building experience in Juarez, Mexico. Mike has been a full-time staff member for the past 20 years but recently retired from office duties. We know him for his tender heart and compassion for the poor. Barbara joins him on staff as the Small Church Communities Coordinator. |

Richard Baker You can reach Deacon Richard by phone at (303) 422-9173 Dick and his wife Theresa have been married for 40 years and have 4 children. Dick was ordained on June 16, 1984. Dick and Theresa are among the original members of SOC and share many memories of the development of our parish community. As one of the founding families, Dick knows for certain that the Holy Spirit guided the entire project. Deacon Dick’s love of our community, teaching, preaching, serving and sharing have been evident in all his work. Dick’s enthusiasm and belief in Stewardship is infectious and evident each time he preaches. |

Earl Webster You can reach Deacon Earl by phone at (303) 422-9173 Earl and Carol have been married for 45 years and have 4 children. Earl was ordained a deacon on April 16, 1978. Prior to his reassignment in 1998 to Spirit of Christ, he served at Holy Family Church, Stapleton Airport and the Gardens of St. Elizabeth. Earl believes there are good people in all areas and churches and finds great comfort in that knowledge. |

Hugh Downey You can reach Deacon Hugh by phone at (303) 422-9173 Hugh and Marty have been married for 36 years and have 2 children. Hugh was ordained on June 16, 1984 and both he and Marty have dedicated their life’s work to their mission in Ethiopia, Eritrea and Kenya - Lalmba - “a place of hope”, which they consider their other home. For over 39 years Hugh and Marty have dealt with the overwhelming medical, spiritual, and nutritional needs of the AIDS and war-devastated areas. They oversee the distribution of food and water for children and have built schools and homes for nearly 400 AIDS orphaned children and operate medical clinics. Hugh loves being a deacon and caring for children. He is happiest serving the church, preaching in his optimistic Irish nature and we’ve come expect his use of fun props! |

Mel Corley You can reach Deacon Mel by phone at (303) 422-9173 Mel and Lucy have been married since 1970, have 2 adult children and 3 grandchildren. Mel was ordained in 1999. He has been assigned to serve as a deacon at SOC since 2002. Mel feels blessed to serve God’s people in the Spirit-filled community that has been the Corleys’ Spiritual home since 1993. Some of Mel’s greatest personal experiences as a deacon were baptizing each of their 3 grandchildren. Mel has a great passion for service to others for Christ, realizing that God, family and relationships are truly important values. |

Deacon Don St Louis You can reach Deacon Don by phone at (303) 422-9173 Don and Connie have been married since 1971, have 3 sons, and have been members of SOC since April of 1974. Don and Connie have been members of the same small church community since 1981. Don was ordained a deacon on June 12, 2004., and has been assigned to SOC since that time. He is also assigned to the St. Francis School of Theology for Deacons where he works in the formation program of men studying for the diaconate. Don has a background in counseling and feels the Holy Spirit continues to draw people to him who need someone to talk to. He has a passion to serve his brothers and sisters, in whatever capacity he can serve. He loves liturgy and has a special devotion to the Eucharist. Don finds preaching an exciting opportunity to share who he is and to challenge himself and others in light of the Gospels. |
