The Little World Of Don Camillo
by Giovanni Guareschi
In the Resource Center Library’s Adult Fiction section is a short, little, overlooked treasure that I fell in love with over 40 years ago. The major characters are an Intalian priest and his best friend, the local communist Mayor. It has only 150 pages.

SEEDS OF FAITH, PRACTICES TO GROW A HEALTHY SPIRITUAL LIFE
by Jeremy Langford
The author likens one’s spiritual growth to the planting of seeds in a garden. He uses several practices that one does over weeks to plan “seeds”, nurture them and grow branches. A good book to help one ask the questions (What do I really want); develop roots (through prayer, meditation…); that grow branches (discipleship, community, celebration).

Listening to Father John Corapi’s talk on the Passion of Christ is a very real look at suffering and its place in our lives. It is an hour well spent not only reflecting on Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross but also seeing him as the personal savior of each of us. As a result, I look at the cross in a different way and hope I retain the perspective of “Love is the cross and the cross is love”.

The Bible and The Qu'ran
Fr. Jormier's book might be scholarly in its approach, but it serves as an excellent introductory book to understanding the Islam religion. Having lived in the Middle East for sometime, the author has provided ample information about the similarities and irreconcilable differences between Christian Scripture and Islamic sacred texts without really delving into it. It is interesting to know that the three major religions in the world (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) came from the same stock as that of Abraham, are believer of only one God, but yet they differ in the doctrine of God's nature, man, and salvation. One major difference that emerges in this study is that unlike Christianity, Islam does not view itself as a continuation of God's revelation to the Jews. One gets to read some texts from the Qu'ran and gain some understanding of the traditional Islam religion which proves helpful in the light of the 9/11 World&nb sp; Trade Center espisodes. The topics include the Islamic teaching on Jesus and Mary, the Islamic law in relation to other religions, and the universal mission of the Muslims. Of note also are the appendixes from the writing of John Paul II, Cardinal Francis Arinze and Bishop Fulton J. Sheen on Islam. I find this book easy to read and highly illuminating.

Video - ZEUS AND ROXANNE
Good story for the entire family. It shows that humans can work together if they’re willing. It also shows that humans and animals can learn from and benefit each other.

I thought that “The Selfish Giant” was extremely motivating. Without being too obvious, they tell about how a young boy, representing Jesus, changes a “child-hating” giant into a “child-loving” giant. After sharing his garden with children, he joins Jesus in his garden.

Veggie Tales - Lyle the Kindly Viking video
I thought it was good, my favorite character was Larry the cucumber. I liked him because the tomato kept telling him to quit singing because he could talk, but Larry just kept singing. I thought it was funny, especially when Larry sang I have to go to the bathroom. I would recommend that other kids watch it.
