Great Adventure Bible Study

Join us Fall 2011 for an Amazing Bible Study!

The Great Adventure is a Catholic Bible learning system that makes the complex simple by teaching the story (the narrative) of the Bible. Every day, more and more people are encountering God's Word through the methods taught in The Great Adventure.

This year the Arvada Great Adventure Bible Program is excited to offer the following studies: Timeline, Matthew and Acts. Each study runs from September 2011 – March 2012.

Registrations will be offered after all weekend Masses August 13/14 and 27/28.

  • Space is limited.
  • Sessions meet once a week and run 24 weeks from the second week of Sept.-March.
  • With different times to choose from, even people with busy schedules can attend. See Calendar.

The Arvada Great Adventure Bible Study Program is a cooperative effort among Spirit of Christ, Shrine of St. Anne, and St. Joan of Arc Parishes.

Step 1: The Great Adventure Bible Timeline

This is the foundational piece of The Great Adventure Bible Study System. You will be given the "big picture" of salvation history, and learn how to read the Bible as a Catholic. The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation is a fascinating study that takes you on a journey through the entire Bible. Go deep into each period of salvation history and discover the amazing story woven throughout all of Scripture. Using a unique color-coded system, you will learn the major people, places, and events of the Bible and see how they all come together to reveal the remarkable story of our faith.

We’ll be using the Revised Great Adventure Bible Timeline!

This newly revised edition of The Bible Timeline follows the same proven format as the original, but is now re-filmed in high definition and revised to present the best of the old, with the excitement of the new. It now includes new theological insights, animated maps of ancient Biblical journeys, definitions and spellings of unfamiliar words, classic art and contemporary images of well-known ancient Biblical sites, as well as on-screen citations from Scripture, the Catechism, and more.

Sessions: Monday evenings at St. Anne’s; Tuesday evening at St. Joan of Arc; Thursday mornings at Spirit of Christ.

Step 2: Matthew

After taking the Bible Timeline and getting the "big picture," the next step in the Great Adventure series is the Gospel of Matthew. Come and see how Christ is the fulfillment of the law as he establishes His Kingdom here on earth.

Sessions: Monday evenings at Spirit of Christ; Wednesday mornings at St. Joan of Arc.

Step 3: Acts of the Apostles

After completing Matthew, students move on to study the Acts of the Apostles. Witness the foundations of the Church as the "Good News" of Jesus Christ is spread throughout Israel and beyond.

Sessions: Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings at Spirit of Christ.
